hi and in todays microsoft word tutorial im going to show you how you can insert anything into your header or footer and how you can align it and move it around often when you use headers and footers its quite tricky to get the text exactly where you want it particularly if you want to insert something like pictures or an icon or a logo or something like that so im going to show you how to do that today so ive opened up my default document and theres two ways you can access the header or footer the first way is to go up to the insert tab and to go along to either the header and footer if you go along here and you click on the drop down then you have a number of different options to choose from but if you dont actually want any of those then all you need to do is go to the top or the bottom of your page and just simply double click and you know youre in the header and footer because obviously this blue header icon appears as does the footer so once were in there obviously you

Use headers and footers to add a title, date, or page numbers to every page in a document. Select Insert Header or Footer. Select one of the built in designs. Type the text you want in the header or footer.
Go to Insert Header or Footer Blank (or a simple template). Double-click [Type text] in the header or footer area. Select Picture and then choose a picture on your computer. Select Close Header and Footer or press Esc to exit.
You can number headings so that top-level headings (Heading 1) are numbered 1, 2, 3, for example, and second-level headings (Heading 2) are numbered 1.1, 1.2, 1.3. Open your document that uses built-in heading styles, and select the first Heading 1. On the Home tab, in the Paragraph group, choose Multilevel List.
Step 1: Open the new or an existing Word document in which you want to insert header and footer. Step 2: Go to the Insert tab at the top of the Ribbon. Step 3: Click on either header or footer drop-down menu in the Header Footer section.
Once youve applied heading styles, you can insert your table of contents in just a few clicks. Navigate to the References tab on the Ribbon, then click the Table of Contents command. Select a built-in table from the menu that appears, and the table of contents will appear in your document.
To do that, well use a custom style. Select the text that we want to appear in the Table of Contents. Open Styles gallery Create a Style OK. Click ahead of the Table of Contents. The first three Heading Styles are mapped to the first three TOC levels. The preview now shows the new style under Heading 3.
Keep words on the same line Click where you want to insert the nonbreaking space. On the Insert tab, in the Symbols group, click Symbol. In the box that opens, click More Symbols. In the Symbol dialog box, on the Special Characters tab, click the Nonbreaking Space row to highlight it, and then click Insert. Click Close.

To add a heading style Type the text you want into a Word document. Select a sentence that you want to add a header to. Select Home Styles (or press Alt+H, then L), and then select the heading you want, such as the Heading 1 button.
Go into the header or footer. This will automatically activate the Design tab of the ribbon. In the Options group, there are check boxes for Different first page and Different odd and even pages.
