Description Select the cell that you want to evaluate. On the Formulas tab, in the Formula Auditing group, click Evaluate Formula. Click Evaluate to examine the value of the underlined reference. Continue until each part of the formula has been evaluated. To see the evaluation again, click Restart.
Create a cell reference to another worksheet Click the cell in which you want to enter the formula. , type = (equal sign) and the formula you want to use. Click the tab for the worksheet to be referenced. Select the cell or range of cells to be referenced.
Find cells that contain formulas Select a cell, or a range of cells. If you select one cell, you search the whole worksheet. If you select a range, you search just that range. Click Home Find Select Go To Special. Click Formulas, and if you need to, clear any of the check boxes below Formulas.
Select the cell with the formula, and then click Cells on the Format menu. Click the Number tab. Select the format code that you want the cell to display, and then click OK. The cell still displays the formula.
For more information about formulas in general, see Overview of formulas. Click the cell in which you want to enter the formula. In the formula bar. , type = (equal sign). Do one of the following, select the cell that contains the value you want or type its cell reference. Press Enter.
To get Excel to properly display the result: Select the cell. Format the cell as General. (Right-click the cell, select Format Cells, and choose General.) Delete the = at the beginning of your formula, and hit Enter. Insert the = back in the formula at the beginning.
To show formulas in Excel, you can click on the Formulas tab and then click Show Formulas. This will show all formulas in the Excel worksheet.
Click on Formulas and then click on Show Formulas to switch between displaying formulas and results.
