Hi everyone, Kevin here. Today I want to show you how you can create your very own fillable form using Microsoft Word. First off, what is a fillable form? You can have people go in and fill out a form, but they wont be able to edit the questions or the structure of the form. You can use things like check boxes, text fields, drop down lists, date pickers, to build your form. Once someones finished completing your form, they can e-mail it back, they could print it out, or you could even connect it to a database. Connecting to a database is outside of the scope of todays tutorial. Its kind of like an docHub PDF form, but its Microsofts version of it. Ive included sample files today if you want to follow along, otherwise lets jump on the PC and lets get started. How to create fillable PDF files: Open Acrobat: Click on the Tools tab and select Prepare Form. Select a file or scan a document: Acrobat will automatically analyze your document and add form fields. Add new form fields: Use the top toolbar and adjust the layout using tools in the right pane. Save your fillable PDF:
Add a form field Place a frame at the location where you want to place the form field. Open the Buttons and Forms panel (Window Interactive Buttons and Forms) Select the frame and choose a form element type from the Type list. Enter a name for the form field. Choose an event and add actions to associate with it.
For help you may press the F1 key while viewing a form. button in the upper right hand corner of the menu bar of the PDF form. After clicking this button the Fillable Fields within the form will be highlighted in a light blue color which will allow you to enter your information within these fields.
Making a field required in docHub Open the necessary PDF form, choose Forms Signatures Prepare Form. Select the field that needs to be required, right click on it and choose Set as a Required Field: Save changes.
These non-interactive forms are called flat forms, and cant be filled in using PDF Complete. Open your PDF Complete application. Open a fillable PDF form. Click in an input field, and type in a value. Press Tab (on your keyboard) to accept the input. Click the Save icon from the menu bar to save your work.
Create a Form Place the text cursor where you want to insert the form field. Click the Developer tab on the ribbon. Click the Design Mode button in the controls group. Click a Content Control buttons to insert the selected type of control. When youre done, click the Design Mode button again to exit Design Mode.
To do so, open your PDF file in docHub, then click on the Edit PDF tool in the toolbar on the right. When youre in form editing mode, you can make several types of changes to the PDF file. You can edit text, alter a field name, or add new text and fillable fields.
