so what our merge fields well its pretty simple theyre basically just a way of pre filling a template so that when you send it to a new person every single time you can personalize it to them with say their name or a day or whatever you need to add to it so what you need to do you come to your dashboard like this you go to templates click on the template that you want to add the merge field to so thats going this way you go and edit and then you drag in the field that you would like to pre-fill okay all you have to do now so you click on the field that you want to add a merge field for make sure youve got the right party selected so that when you come to send it as a new envelope make sure that youre selected on the signer or else you wont get the drop down for merge fields so if you click on a docHub where it says merge fields you can add your own merge fields so lets add in issued by click this plus button here and there we go we can see now that this has come up as a merge

Create a Form Place the text cursor where you want to insert the form field. Click the Developer tab on the ribbon. Click the Design Mode button in the controls group. Insert Field Codes The quick way to add a Word field code is from Insert | Text, click on the Quick Parts icon and choose Fields in Word for Windows or Mac. Then choose the field code you want from the list on left. The options in the center and right sections will change, depending on the field code selected.
Updating built-in and custom fields To update a field manually, right-click the field and then click Update Field or press F9. To update all fields manually in the main body of a document, press Ctrl + A to select all and then press F9. Some fields in headers, footers or text boxes must be updated separately.

How to insert a Word field by using Ctrl + F9 Position the cursor where you want to insert the field. Press Ctrl + F9 to enter a blank field, as shown in Figure E. Enter the field code Author inside the brackets and press F9 to calculate the result.
