Choose subtopic Other Income Taxes (desktop) or Income Taxes Paid (online version.) Next screen choose Payments with extensions. Choose the type of extension payment. It may be prepopulated if you prepared the extension with TurboTax.
Follow these steps to enter an amount paid with the extension: Go to the Input Return tab. On the left-side menu, select Payments, Penalties Extensions. Click on 2022 Estimated Payments. Scroll down to the Paid with Extension (not later than April 15, 2022) section. Enter the amount in Amount paid.
Pay By Mail Be sure to make your check or money order payable to the United States Treasury. Write your social security number, daytime phone number, and Form 4868 on your check or money order.
Where do I enter my extension payment (Form 4868)? If you paid an extension payment to the IRS when you filed your extension, that information needs to be included when you file your tax return. Enter it on the Extension and Other Tax Payments screen.
When paying electronically, you must select Form 4868 as the payment type and the payment date to get the automatic extension. Keep the confirmation you receive as proof of your payment. With Direct Pay and EFTPS you can opt in to receive email notifications about your payment. You need to watch out for email schemes.
Go to the Input Return tab. On the left-side menu, select Payments, Penalties Extensions. Select Extensions (4868/2350). Enter a 1 in 1=automatic extension, 2=blank (MANDATORY).
To make a payment using your bank account within the program: Federal. Miscellaneous Forms. Application for Extension. Complete the necessary information. Go to Extension Payment. Enter the amount you wish to pay with your extension. E-file and select File Extension to e-file the return.
If you file Form 1040EZ or Form 1040A, include any payment you made with Form 4868 in your total payments on line 9 of Form 1040EZ or line 39 of Form 1040A. Also write Form 4868 and the amount in the space to the left of line 9 or line 39.
