this video will walk you through how to integrate evidence into your writing and make it smooth letamp;#39;s start by looking at an example of some ways that people might put evidence in their writing youamp;#39;ll notice highlighted in yellow is a quote that is being used to support the idea of the paragraph now youamp;#39;ll notice that the quote is simply put there without anything to set it up this is called a dropped quote what that means is that sometimes the reader doesnamp;#39;t know exactly whatamp;#39;s happening around this quote itamp;#39;s hard for the reader to understand where this is coming from or what it might mean a lot of times we start by adding a basic example of how we lead into this where we might say for example the text states a stinging slap on his jaw but youamp;#39;ll notice even though that adds a little bit more information and tries to make it flow smoothly in the writing it still doesnamp;#39;t quite sound totally right so letamp;#39;s look at

There are three main ways to integrate evidence from sources into your writing: quoting, paraphrasing, and summarizing. Each form requires a citation because you are using another persons words and/or ideas.
Reasoning is the EXPLANATION that connects your claim to the evidence that supports it or why you think your claim ( your answer to the question) is correct.
In order to use evidence effectively, you need to integrate it smoothly into your essay by following this pattern: State your claim. Give your evidence, remembering to relate it to the claim. Comment on the evidence to show how it supports the claim.
The most universal way to support a point is to provide a reference to a source which backs it up: either someone who agrees with you, or evidence that supports you. As your studies progress, this strategy may need to become more in depth, perhaps referencing multiple sources or commenting critically on them.
Consider the following steps: Make Copies: create copies of all relevant documents, ensuring they are legible and clearly marked as copies. Take Photographs and Videos: Capture visual evidence such as the scene of the accident, damages, or any physical evidence that supports your claim.
CER stands for claim, evidence, reasoning. A claim or claim statement answers a question posed by a writer in a paragraph or essay, which the writer then must prove to be true. The next component, evidence, is research, data, or textual evidence that supports the claim.
There are three strategies you can use to embed quotations: set off quotations, build in quotations, or introduce quotations with a colon. Set-off quotations are set off from the sentence with a comma. Capitalize the first word of the quote.
REASONING The reasoning explains how or why the evidence supports this claim. This is often the most difficult part for students. They struggle to tie together the claim and evidence scientifically. In the example above, the reasoning would explain why the greenhouse gases are harmful.
Supporting evidence can include personal narratives (i.e. stories), examples, and anecdotes. We find that most people do not have a problem coming up with stories that provide supporting evidence; rather, they have a problem weaving their narrative or examples effectively into their essay.
How Do I Use Evidence? Make sure your evidence is appropriate to the paper you are writing. Make sure the evidence does, in fact, support your argument or your claims. Tell your reader why this evidence supports your argument/claims. Make sure you have an appropriate amount of evidence.
