Currency format Create a table with a field of type Currency. In the lower pane of table design view, set the Format property to Currency. Save the table, and close the database. Open the Windows Control Panel. Go to Regional Options, and change the Currency setting. Open your database again.
Currency prices can be determined in two main ways: a floating rate or a fixed rate. A floating rate is determined by the open market through supply and demand on global currency markets. Therefore, if the demand for the currency is high, the value will increase.
Access opens the table in Datasheet view. Select the field (the column) that you want to change. On the Fields tab, in the Properties group, click the arrow in the drop-down list next to Data Type, and then select a data type. Save your changes.
Tip: To quickly apply the Currency format, select the cell or range of cells that you want to format, and then press Ctrl+Shift+$. Like the Currency format, the Accounting format is used for monetary values. But, this format aligns the currency symbols and decimal points of numbers in a column.
A Currency data type has no field size option and is fixed to a Double size up to 4 decimal places. A Number with a field size set to Integer has a different range with no decimal places.
To add a currency field to a form. Open the appropriate form. Right-click the form, and select Create a New Field Currency. The new field appears on the form.
Access provides several predefined formats for number and currency data. The default format is to display the number as entered. Open the query in Design View. Right-click the date field, and then click Properties. In the Property Sheet, select the format you want from the Format property list.
