In your document, place your insertion point where you want to add the drop-down list. Next, select the Developer menu. On the Developer menu, in the Controls group, click the Drop-Down List Content Control icon (It looks like an actual drop-down icon.). You now have a drop-down list in your document.
A drop-down list (abbreviated drop-down, or DDL; also known as a drop-down menu, drop menu, pull-down list, picklist) is a graphical control element, similar to a list box, that allows the user to choose one value from a list. When a drop-down list is inactive, it displays a single value.
Create a drop-down list Select the cells that you want to contain the lists. On the ribbon, click DATA Data Validation. In the dialog, set Allow to List. Click in Source, type the text or numbers (separated by commas, for a comma-delimited list) that you want in your drop-down list, and click OK.
Just as you can use the IF function on the worksheet, you can use it in a data validation formula.
Go to Data Data Tools Data Validation. In the Data Validation dialogue box, within the settings tab, select List as Validation Criteria. In Source field, select the cells which have the items that you want in the drop down. Click OK.
Heres how: Select one or more cells to validate. Open the Data Validation dialog box. On the Settings tab of the Data Validation dialog window, select Custom in the Allow box, and enter your data validation formula in the Formula box. Click OK.
To create a drop-down list which changes ing to what the user selects, you can use an IF statement within the data validation feature. In the Ribbon, select Data Data Tools Data Validation.
What is an Excel Drop Down List? An Excel drop down list[1] is a data validation function that allows users to select an option from a list of choices. It can be particularly useful in performing financial modeling and analysis by incorporating scenarios and making a spreadsheet more dynamic.
On the worksheet where you applied the drop-down list, select a cell that has the drop-down list. Go to Data Data Validation. On the Settings tab, click in the Source box, and then change your list items as needed.
Select a cell in which you want the dropdown to appear (D3 in our case). On the Data tab, in the Data Tools group, click Data Validation.2. Create the main drop down Under Allow, select List. In the Source box, enter the reference to the spill range output by the UNIQUE formula. Click OK to close the dialog.
