To create a drop-down list which changes ing to what the user selects, you can use an IF statement within the data validation feature. In the Ribbon, select Data Data Tools Data Validation.
In your document, place your insertion point where you want to add the drop-down list. Next, select the Developer menu. On the Developer menu, in the Controls group, click the Drop-Down List Content Control icon (It looks like an actual drop-down icon.). You now have a drop-down list in your document.
Creating a Dependent Drop Down List in Excel Select the cell where you want the first (main) drop down list. Go to Data Data Validation. In the data validation dialog box, within the settings tab, select List. In Source field, specify the range that contains the items that are to be shown in the first drop down list.
Insert a drop-down list box On the form template, place the cursor where you want to insert the control. If the Controls task pane is not visible, click More Controls on the Insert menu, or press ALT+I, C. In the Controls task pane, do one of the following: Under Insert controls, click Drop-Down List Box.
Heres how: Select one or more cells to validate. Open the Data Validation dialog box. On the Settings tab of the Data Validation dialog window, select Custom in the Allow box, and enter your data validation formula in the Formula box. Click OK.
Click the Data tab and then click Data Validation in the Data Tools group. From the Allow drop down, choose List. In the Source control, enter (or select) $B$2:$E$2 (Figure B). Click OK.
Select the cell in the worksheet where you want the drop-down list. Go to the Data tab on the Ribbon, then click Data Validation . On the Settings tab, in the Allow box, click List . If its OK for people to leave the cell empty, check the Ignore blank box.
Just as you can use the IF function on the worksheet, you can use it in a data validation formula. For the dependent drop-down cells in column B, well change the formula to the following: =IF(A2=,World,INDIRECT(A2))
