The SEVP Portal is a tool that lets OPT students meet their OPT reporting requirements. The Portal allows OPT students to report their address, telephone number and employer information.
While on 12-month post-completion OPT, you must report the start and end of your employment to SEVP (Student and Exchange Visitor Program) within 10 days of occurrence.
EAD Delays If you do not receive your STEM OPT EAD by the end of your Post-Completion OPT, you may continue to work for up to 180 days after the end of your Post-Completion OPT. You should receive your new EAD before you docHub 180 days.
Immigration regulations require F-1 students on post-completion OPT to report their employment, employment relation to major, status (e.g. forfeit OPT), US address, and telephone information on or after their approved OPT start date. All updates must be reported within 10 days of the change.
Recommend STEM OPT Extension. Students must submit a completed Form I-983 Training Plan for STEM OPT Students to the DSO before the DSO can recommend the STEM OPT extension in SEVIS. Students must submit a new Form I-983 for every new employment/training experience they accept during their STEM OPT extension.
Section 3: Employer Information Specifically in Section 3, the employer needs to document: Company name, mailing address and website. Companys Employer Identification Number (EIN) (i.e., the companys Federal Tax ID number) and North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code.
Failure to Report It is your personal responsibility to provide all contact and employment information to the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) Portal. Failing to report Post-OPT employment and/or changes to your employment may result in the automatic termination of your SEVIS record.
Changes to Report International students must report the following changes to their DSO or via the SEVP Portal within 10 days of the change occurring: Physical address and/or mailing address. Legal name.
