How to list your references. In the Harvard (author-date) System the list of references is arranged alphabetically by authors surname, year (and letter, if necessary) and is placed at the end of the work. A reference list is the detailed list of references that are cited in your work.
Put your cursor at the end of the text you want to cite. Go to References Insert Citation, and choose the source you are citing. To add details, like page numbers if youre citing a book, select Citation Options, and then Edit Citation.
Place your cursor to where the reference is to be inserted, then click Insert - Reference - Cross-reference. In the dialog box, select Numbered item, Paragraph number, then the reference you want to insert, click Insert. This inserts the reference into the text.
How do I write a reference list or bibliography? Check your style. Make sure you know what style you need to use to make sure you have the right information. Look for missing information. You need your references to be complete, so check that there are no gaps. Use referencing software.

Reference list entries should be alphabetized by the first word of each entry. Use initials for authors first and middle names. If your reference extends past the first line, every line after should have a hanging indent; the equivalent of one tab space. Italicize the main title (of a book, journal, etc).
Reference list entries should be alphabetized by the last name of the first author of each work. For multiple articles by the same author, or authors listed in the same order, list the entries in chronological order, from earliest to most recent.
