Insert a check mark symbol In your file, place the cursor where you want to insert the symbol. Open the Symbol dialog box: In the Font box, select Wingdings. In the Character code box at the bottom, enter: 252. Select the check mark you want. Once the check mark has been inserted, you may change its size or color.
Hold down the Alt key and use the number keypad to enter the character code thats 0252 for the plain checkmark and 0254 for the boxed checkmark.
Create checks with keyboard shortcuts If you have a separate number pad on your keyboard, be sure to activate the num lock. While holding the Alt key on your keyboard, type in 251 and release the Alt button to enter the check symbol in the place where you have the cursor.
Go to the Insert tab Symbols group, and click Symbol. In the Symbol dialog box, on the Symbols tab, click the drop-down arrow next to the Font box, and select Wingdings. A couple of checkmark and cross symbols can be found at the bottom of the list.
In Google Docs, you can insert a check mark (also known as a tick mark) by using special characters. To insert a check mark, click on the location in the document where you want the check mark to appear. Then, click on Insert in the top menu bar and select Special Characters.
Keyboard Shortcut to Add a Checkmark If you are using Windows, then: Select the cell where you want to add it. Use Alt + 0 2 5 2 (make sure to hold the Alt key and then type 0252 with your numeric keypad). And, if you are using a Mac: Just select the cell where you want to add it.
Click the Insert tab in the ribbon. Click on the Symbol icon. In the Symbol dialog box that opens, select Segoe UI Symbol as the font. Scroll down till you find the check mark symbol and the double click on it (or click on Insert).
