You can ask the Office of the Public Guardian ( OPG ) to remove an attorney if your lasting power of attorney ( LPA ) is registered and you still have mental capacity to make decisions. You will need to send OPG a written statement called a partial deed of revocation.
This means there are no restrictions set out in the document on how you can manage the donors money. For example, theres no limit to how much cash you can take out or which accounts you can access. This means you can make decisions on your own or with other attorneys.
An ordinary power of attorney is only valid while you have the mental capacity to make your own decisions. If you want someone to be able to act on your behalf if there comes a time when you dont have the mental capacity to make your own decisions you should consider setting up a lasting power of attorney.
How do I make an LPA? Just like the property and financial affairs LPA, you need to make an attorney of power while you still have mental capacity. You must register the LPA with the office of the Public Guardian (OPG). You can register the arrangement yourself or get an attorney to do it on your behalf.
