The Salutation The salutation (or greeting) in a business letter is always formal. It often begins with Dear {Persons name}. Once again, be sure to include the persons title if you know it (such as Ms., Mrs., Mr., or Dr).
If you do not know the department in which your letter will be received, it is also acceptable to use a generic greeting. For example: Dear [Company Name], Dear [Company Name/Department Name] Department,
Enclosures. If you have enclosed any documents along with the letter, such as a resume, you indicate this simply by typing Enclosures below the closing. As an option, you may list the name of each document you are including in the envelope.
