In order to create a calculated field you type an expression (sometimes called a formula) into the Field row in query Design view. The new field is given a name, and as long as you save the query, that new field is available for you to use in other queries as well as in forms and reports.
Open the table by double-clicking it in the Navigation Pane. Scroll horizontally to the rightmost column in the table, and click the Click to Add column heading. In the list that appears, click Calculated Field, and then click the data type that you want for the result.
Go to the menu Edit - Local Field - Create. Give the field some name and descrption. Choose the properties that you need and enter the Calculation Formula using the short name from step 2 (e.g. COST * 1.10 to add 10% to the COST field).
