Handicaps in Alternate Shot The partners on each side combine those course handicaps. The higher-handicapped side gets 50-percent of the lower handicapped sides total course handicap, and the lower handicapped side plays off scratch.
Alternate Shots - Alternate Shot, also called Foursomes, is a competition format in which 2-person teams alternate hitting the same ball. The first player tees off, the second player hits the second shot, the first player hits the third shot, and so on until the ball is holed.
Unlike other games, in alternate shot games players do not use their total handicap. When calculating the team handicap, the lower course handicap golfer receives 60% of his or her course handicap. The higher course handicap team member receives 40% of his or her course handicap.
The scramble is often played as stroke play event with the team with the lowest cumulative score after 18 holes winning. Alternate Shot format involves teams of 2 golfers. Players from each team alternate shots on each hole throughout 18 holes. Teammates alternate who hits the tee shot on each hole.
Foursomes (also known as Alternate Shot) is a form of play involving partners (in either match play or stroke play) where two partners compete as a side by playing one ball in alternating order on each hole.
The basics of an alternate shot format is two golfers playing the same ball. One player drives the ball, and the other hits the second shot. The players continue to alternate until the ball is in the hole.
Event: Modified Alternate Shot format. Both players hit a tee shot and select the best one to play. From there- the other player hits for the team for the next shot and the team alternates until the hole is complete. USGA rules of golf as well as local rules apply.
