The RCT payment service allows principal contractors to notify Revenue of gross payments to be made to subcontractors. We will respond by authorising you to deduct tax, if any, from the payment. This service allows you to submit single or multiple payment notifications.
To claim a refund of RCT, you must complete: Form IC1 if you are an individual subcontractor. Form IC3 if you are a company subcontractor. RCT questionnaire relating to each contract you have accepted.

Value Added Tax (VAT) is normally charged by the person supplying the goods or services. However, under RCT, the person receiving the goods or services (the principal contractor) calculates VAT and pays it directly to Revenue.
RCT is a withholding tax that applies to certain payments by principal contractors to subcontractors in the construction, forestry and meat-processing industries. The rates of tax are 0%, 20% and 35%.
If you are registered for RCT, you can apply for a refund during the year.To claim a refund of RCT, you must complete: Form IC1 if you are an individual subcontractor. Form IC3 if you are a company subcontractor. RCT questionnaire relating to each contract you have accepted.
The RCT system has similar logic as PAYE/PRSI system where Employer deduct tax from Employees gross salary and pay him only net pay. In RCT system there is Principal Contractor (who represents Employer in PAYE system) who deduct tax from payments to Sub-Contractor (who represents Employee in PAYE system).
