The Les Paul has been produced in many versions and editions since. Along with Fenders Telecaster and Stratocaster, it was one of the first mass-produced electric solid-body guitars.
Jimmy Page purchased his 59 Les Paul, the one we know as Number One, for $1200, from Joe Walsh in 1969 at Walshs insistence. This was an excellent financial deal even then, and Walsh says now that he did the generous deal because Page seemed in love with the instrument and Walsh felt it would suit him very well.
