There are typically two options: a head table setup or a sweetheart table setup. The head table is larger and includes the bridal party and/or close family members along with the newly married couple. The sweetheart table is much smaller seating only the honored couple.
Who sits at the wedding VIP table? Well, as the bride and groom, youre the most important people at your wedding! Besides you, your VIPs typically consist of both the bride and grooms parents, your grandparents, your siblings, and your relatives in order of hierarchy.
The maid of honour is traditionally seated to the left of the grooms father, with the brides mother to his right. The groom is then seated between his bride and her father, with the grooms mother on his right and the best man next to her.
Typically, the bride is sat next to her father, with her mother sitting next to her groom. The grooms father is then sat next to the brides mother, with his mother being sat next to the brides father. At the end of the table sits the maid of honour and the best man.
Its a strategically placed table that allows a guest to leave a gift, find the seating arrangements and more (well get to that in a minute). The fun part about these is that they can display whatever you want. Make one for both the ceremony and reception, and the more personalization the better!
Traditionally, the bride and groom would sit at the centre of a long table with the chief bridesmaid, grooms father and brides mother on one side and the brides father, grooms mother and best man on the other side. However, not all families fit this mould so its really up to you how you plan your top table.
A round table with the wedding couple in the center is the traditional table setting for the top table. The maid of honour and best man sit on either side of the couple. The grooms men and bridesmaids then sit on either side of the maid of honour and best man.
The head table is usually a long table that faces out towards the other guests. Typically, the bride sits on the grooms left, with the best man on the brides right and the maid of honor on the grooms right.
