With a filling, an amalgam or composite material is used to fill the space, and its a much quicker process, involving only a single visit. With an inlay, the space is filled with a single, solid piece that is usually fabricated in a lab and they are typically made out of a material like gold or ceramic.
You can use bookmarks to link within a document to a specific section or page. Bookmarks arent available in Google Sheets or Slides. Open a Google Doc. Click where you want the bookmark.
Inlays are used to fill, cover and patch larger portions of a cavity, hole or gap on the biting surface of a tooth than could be sealed with a filling, and where that cavity, hole or gap is contained within the cusp of your tooth (inside the perimeter as opposed to over the shoulders or cusps of the tooth.
This is in contrast to a direct filling, which is applied directly to the cavity by the dentist in one office visit. An indirect filling is considered an inlay when it fits within the little points or cusps of a back (premolar or molar) tooth. It is an onlay if it covers one or more of these cusps.
Inlays are applied to the grooves (also known as pits and fissures) of the tooth, and they extend deep into the tooths roots. They usually last anywhere between five and 20 years. Although there is no assurance that they will last this long, it is possible to make them last.
An inlay refers to a filling that usually consists of gold, porcelain, or resin that is used to treat a cavity. An inlay is larger than a filling while being smaller than a crown. The difference between an inlay and a filling is that an inlay lies within the cusps on the chewing portion of the tooth.
