16 pillow 16.5 x 21 fabric for back (or two pieces of fabric that give you this total measurement) 18 zipper length (I used a continuous zipper tape that Id cut to size)
Zipper Size Zippers are sized with a number designation (e.g., #5, #10). These numbers are based on the approximate width of the closed zipper teeth in millimeters. So, a #5 zippers teeth measure approximately 5mm across, a #10 zippers teeth measure approximately 10mm across, and so on.
The number is the most important thing to look for on the back of a zipper slider to determine what size it is. Double-pull sliders will not have numbers on them because of their design. So if you have a double-pull slider, youll need to measure across your zipper teeth to determine the slider size.
Zip the zip should be the same length as the bottom edge of the cushion (as the zip goes into the bottom of the cushion).
The zipper size is a number typically stamped on the back of the slider.
For ease of getting cushions into the cover, you want the zipper panel to wrap around to the sides of the cushion on each side by about 6. So in this example the we need a zipper panel 25 long plus an additional 6 on each end to wrap around the side. So our zipper panel will be 37 long by 6 wide.

And this is the pull that goes with it. This is a number
For upholstery dcor projects (like this box cushion), a metal chain is best for cushions that will see a lot of wear or will be zipped and unzipped a lot. For pillow covers (like this quilted pillow), a coil chain will work fine.
