the piece was brought into the collection in 1973 and because of the damage the the piece was in storage for 35 years or so and that all these joins is where we see the damage where the where the wood has the substrate has expanded and contracted along with some probably some water damage which separated and we lost both the bone tessera and the inlaid wood I started with using cow cow bone from that was bleached but it was quite fragile so I used a bone folder one of the most important aspects of this job was choosing the right adhesive and we tried several and we wound up using a traditional adhesive which is a hide glue bulked with very fine sawdust about the same color as the as the wood the wood tessera that Iamp;#39;m using is cocobolo and the and itamp;#39;s a tropical wood as this wood is 12 when the piece was brought in it was a challenge to see if I could actually accomplish this repairs but as it turned out the pattern makes whatever we do here quite forgiving because it i
