The difference between wet and dry Simply put, wet inlays come with pressure-sensitive adhesive, and dry inlays dont. In the manufacture of dry inlays, the chip and antenna are placed on a carrier, or substrate, which is usually made of film or paper material.
RFID Inlays: RFID inlays are like RFID tags, but they are smaller and contain only the antenna and the chip. They are designed to be embedded into other objects, such as plastic cards, labels, or packaging materials. RFID inlays can be passive or active, and they can be read over shorter distances than RFID tags.
RFID wet inlays are passive RFID inlays with an adhesive backing that can be either applied to a product directly or converted into smart labels (integrated into a paper or plastic label).
Certain RFID inlays are available in standard label sizes, which are most commonly 4x 6 and 4 x 2. These labels are created when manufacturers or label converters embed RFID tags into standard size label paper in order to allow for more space for printable data.
Wet inlays work best on cardboard and paper. For curved or rough surfaces, or those likely to be contaminated with dust or moisture, dry inlays are the better choice, because they allow users to apply an adhesive that will hold up better in such surfaces.
UHF RFID inlays and labels have a read range of up to 12 meters and can be customized to meet specific application requirements. These inlays and labels are ideal for various tracking and identification applications in industries such as logistics, supply chain management, inventory management, and asset tracking.
