By default, blank lines are preserved in a formatted document. Select Indent using tabs if you want to use tab characters (\t) as the standard formatting indentation, or, if you prefer to use spaces, select Indent using spaces.
To indent it you must put the text in a element. So, for example, the following code does not have a between the header and the text, so the text is not indented: My Story This paragraph is not indented.
Formatting and Indenting XML Documents Format and Indent toolbar button - Formats and indents the current document. Document Source Format and Indent - Formats and indents the whole document. Document Source Indent Selection - Indents the current selection (but does not add line breaks).
Indented paragraphs are paragraphs that begin with a blank space at the left margin. This indentation is typically half an inch, but it can vary depending on the style guide being used. Indented paragraphs are used to signal the beginning of a new paragraph and to create a visual break between paragraphs.
With your Notepad++ opened, go to the Plugins tab and select XML Tools Pretty Print or Pretty Print indent attributes. Also, you can directly press the CTRL + ALT + Shift + A or CTRL + ALT + Shift + B hotkeys.
First-line indent by default Put the cursor anywhere in the paragraph. On the Home tab, right-click the Normal style, and choose Modify. Select Format, and then choose Paragraph. On the Indents and Spacing tab, under Indentation, select First line. Select OK. Select OK again.
Indent Selection After you select a region of text, you can choose to indent the selected lines from the contextual menu (or press CTRL+I).
In your document, highlight your citation(s) to select them, then go to Format Align indent Indentation options. In the Indentation options window that pops up, select hanging under Special Indent. Make sure it says 0.5 in the field next to that dropdown, then click Apply.
