The terminal edge of gingiva (gums) that surrounds the teeth is known as the gingival margin (marginal gingiva). Roughly half of individuals have a gingival margin that is demarcated from the adjacent gingiva by a shallow linear depression (free gingival groove).
With a filling, an amalgam or composite material is used to fill the space, and its a much quicker process, involving only a single visit. With an inlay, the space is filled with a single, solid piece that is usually fabricated in a lab and they are typically made out of a material like gold or ceramic.
What is the price of the treatment in India? A composite filling per tooth can cost about 1000-1200 rupees in India. A gold crown can cost around 15,000 to 20,000 in India.
A one-surface permanent amalgam restoration refers to a dental filling that is used to repair a single surface of a tooth. It typically involves the removal of decay or damaged tooth structure on one side of the tooth and the placement of an amalgam filling to restore the tooths function and structure.
The cavosurface angle is the angle of tooth structure formed by the junction of a prepared wall and the external surface of the tooth. The actual junction is referred to as the cavosurface margin.
Margin - The margin of the crown is where the edge of the crown transitions to the tooth. This is typically right at or just under the gum line. If the margin is closed then the crown is sealed around the tooth.
A Dental Filling Open Margin can occur when the filling does not completely fill the tooth preparation at the time of tooth restoration, leaving a small gap or space between the filling and the tooths surface. This space can sometimes only be seen on a dental x-ray image, like in the image above.
Onlays and inlays Occlusal isthmus width should be more than 1.5 mm wide, and occlusal reduction needs to be at least 1.5 mm deep.
