Set the margin on both sides in the inline direction: div { With the writing-mode property value of a element set to vertical-rl, the inline direction is downwards. With the direction property value of a element set to rtl, the inline direction is right to left.
In CSS, a margin is the space around an elements border, while padding is the space between an elements border and the elements content. Put another way, the margin property controls the space outside an element, and the padding property controls the space inside an element.
The CSS padding properties are used to generate space around an elements content, inside of any defined borders. With CSS, you have full control over the padding. There are properties for setting the padding for each side of an element (top, right, bottom, and left).
You can set left and right margins/padding on an inline element but not top or bottom because it would disrupt the flow of content. You can set margins on block (or inline-block but it will only look right if you set the vertical align right) because block level elements disrupt the flow of content.
The margin-block property may be specified using one or two values. When one value is specified, it applies the same margin to both start and end. When two values are specified, the first margin applies to the start, the second to the end.
Both the margin property and the padding property insert space around an element. However, the difference is that margin inserts the space around the border, while padding inserts the space within the border of an element.
If the padding property has four values: padding:10px 5px 15px 20px; top padding is 10px. right padding is 5px. bottom padding is 15px.
Margin is the space outside of a page element. Padding defines the space surrounding content within a web element. Margin controls the distance between separate elements on the page. Padding sets the distance between the content and the borders of its containing element.
