Hi my nameamp;#39;s Zach Plunket with atlasRFIDstore, and Iamp;#39;m going to talk about the different types of RFID tags used in race timing. Timing races with RFID is one of the most efficient and effective ways to get start times, finish times, and other important data from road races, marathons, triathlons, and other types of races. When you decide on using RFID for your race, there are several different options to choose from, such as the type of system, type of hardware, and the type of RFID tags to use. Today, weamp;#39;re going to talk specifically about the different types of RFID tags that are available for race timing and when to use one versus another. There are three main types of RFID tags that can be used in race timing. Wet Inlays or Labels, Foam-Backed Tags, and Specialty Tags. Letamp;#39;s first talk about Wet Inlays and Labels. The difference between wet and dry Simply put, wet inlays come with pressure-sensitive adhesive, and dry inlays dont. In the manufacture of dry inlays, the chip and antenna are placed on a carrier, or substrate, which is usually made of film or paper material.
RFID inlays can be passive or active, and they can be read over shorter distances than RFID tags. RFID Labels: RFID labels are like RFID inlays, but they also include a printable surface for adding text, graphics, or barcodes.
Wet vs. Dry: A wet NFC inlay has adhesive on the back, similar to an NFC sticker and can be peeled off the liner to be applied to another product. A dry NFC inlay is a complete product on a roll, with no adhesive and no liner.
An RFID card has a thin form factor (81x54x1 mm), like a driving license or identification card, and can be kept in the users wallet. However, an RFID tag is smaller and thicker (around 20x20x5 mm) but can be kept in the users keyring.
Wet RFID inlays are simpler to deploy as they come pre-attached with adhesive backing, while dry RFID inlays provide more flexibility for customized integration methods. Application Environment: Evaluate the environmental conditions in which the RFID tags will be used.
RFID tags can be designed to be embedded in objects, attached to surfaces, or worn by individuals. RFID labels, on the other hand, are typically designed to be attached to objects like product packaging or assets like equipment.
RFID wet inlays are passive RFID inlays with an adhesive backing that can be either applied to a product directly or converted into smart labels (integrated into a paper or plastic label).
