Further, the ink composition for 3D printing may include: the surface-modified inorganic particles at 5 to 50 wt%; the photocurable material at 35 to 85 wt%; and the photoinitiator at 1 to 15 wt%. Further, a coloring agent may be further included.
Traditional 3D printers use powdery metals and plastics as their ink. These are great for making superstrong steel or even artificial bones, but not so great for making biocompatible materials that need more flexibilitysuch as skin grafts.
Todays printing inks are composed of a pigment (one of which is carbon black, which is not much different from the soot used in 2500BC), a binder (an oil, resin or varnish of some kind), a solvent and various additives such as drying and chelating agents.
Inks are formulated using four main components: pigments, binders, solvents and additives. Pigments are used to create color impressions and optical effects. Binders keep the pigments evenly dispersed and bind them to the surface of the substrate.
The silk-screen printing ink comprises components in parts by weight as follows: 20-30 parts of PVC resin, 1-6 parts of polypropylene glycol, 2-8 parts of polyester resin, 5-10 parts of isobutyl methacrylate, 3-7 parts of tetrahydrofuran, 2-7 parts of an antifoaming agent, 3-9 parts of a leveling agent, 5-12 parts of a
PLA. Polylactic Acid, or PLA, is notably the easiest filament to print with. PLA can be printed well on most 3D printers and thus, is not troublesome to print with. PLA has high strength so it can be used for many applications.
