is how you make your own hand-lettered font in illustrator first up you want to get a pen and a paper itamp;#39;s not to sketch out your letters it can be an or uppercase font or it can be lowercase itamp;#39;s up to you i just focus on an uppercase font i sketched out the alphabet first and then i started to trace it with a thicker black felt tip pen once i traced it with the marker i then brought it in to illustrator i just cleaned up the letters a little bit and then what i did is actually use the shape butter tool to create the shapes and fill in all the white space of the letters after i did that i brought that into the app using the extension font self and i started to create the letters and then i used the smart option and it to automatically generate the kerning between the letters then what i did was the font as an otf after exporting it and then now i can type my new font in illustrator just like that so thatamp;#39;s how you create your own font with font self
