View parameter hints in the editor Open the Settings dialog ( Ctrl Alt 0S ) and go to Editor | Inlay Hints. Expand under Parameter names. Specify the context in which you want parameter hints shown by selecting the corresponding checkboxes.
In the Settings dialog ( Ctrl Alt 0S ) , go to Editor | Inlay Hints | Java. From the available options, select Code Vision and enable the Show hints for: and the Usages checkboxes. Click OK to save the changes. When you return to your code in the editor, IntelliJ IDEA will show you the usages of Java symbols.
In the Settings dialog ( Ctrl Alt 0S ) , select Editor | Inlay Hints and click the necessary language. Select Parameter hints in the list in the middle section. The options for configuring hints become available on the right. Add cases for which you do not want to see the hints to the Exclude list section.
Alternatively, while in the editor, you can press Ctrl+Alt+Shift+ + to enable the implicit hints. If you press the same shortcut again, IntelliJ IDEA expands the implicit hints to show you more detailed information. Press Ctrl+Alt+Shift+ - to collapse the hints.
Parameter info To do so, press Ctrl 0P (or click View | Parameter Info).
Quickly see function arguments and argument types. Press ⌘P (macOS) / Ctrl+P (Windows/Linux) to invoke this feature. With your cursor in the parentheses, invoke Parameter Info. You get a tiny popup with the positional and keyword arguments, along with any default values.
Inlay hints are special markers that appear in the editor and provide you with additional information about your code, like the names of the parameters that a called method expects. Other types of hints inform you about annotations, method parameters, usages, and so on (depending on the language).
