Why did a red exclamation point pop up on my picture? If you have a photo with a red exclamation mark it means that the resolution of the photo is too low. This advisory warning means that you should consider uploading a higher quality photo to avoid unwanted pixelation and blurriness.
The exclamation mark (!) (also known as exclamation point in American English) is a punctuation mark usually used after an interjection or exclamation to indicate strong feelings or to show emphasis. The exclamation mark often marks the end of a sentence, for example: Watch out!
As mentioned, an exclamation mark icon on a picture in the Photos app means the full resolution image has not been downloaded to your iOS device. This is expected if iCloud Photos is set to Optimize iPhone Storage and storage space on your device is low.
An exclamation mark in brackets (parentheses) at the end of the sentence is rather informal and it has no defined meaning. To me, when (!) occurs after a sentence, it indicates that the writer is attaching additional emotion to the sentence, but not including that emotion as part of the entire sentence.
Tap the iCloud option and then the Photos option. Select Download and Keep Originals. Your iCloud and your phone will sync and your original, full-resolution photos will now download. The blurry iPhone photos with exclamation marks will also disappear.
The exclamation mark lets you know that the photo has low resolution, under 3MP, which means it can become blurry printed in the book.
