Why would a dentist do an inlay?

A dental inlay is a pre-molded filling fitted into the grooves of your tooth. Its most often used as restoration for cavities (also known as dental caries) that are centered in your tooth instead of along the outer edges or cusps. These cavities have usually not progressed into more extensive tooth decay.

Is inlay worth it?

Inlays come up against fillings but offer a better and more long-term approach because they cover a larger area more easily. Inlays help to strengthen the tooth, whereas fillings can sometimes weaken it when the filling material expands.

Can I get a filling instead of inlay?

Both fillings and inlays treat dental caries, but they are not used interchangeably. Dental inlays are more appropriate for docHub cavities, especially in the back teeth where most chewing takes place.

Do I really need an inlay?

Inlays are utilised to repair a back tooths broad chewing surface and to cover bigger cavities when a traditional filling would be insufficient. Because these chewing surfaces have large crevices that easily trap plaque and food, they are prone to cavities.

Is an inlay necessary?

Dental inlays are a treatment option used to rebuild, renew and restore teeth that are in bad shape. They often get overlooked as they are not used as commonly as dental fillings or crowns. Nonetheless, they are a great option for treating molar teeth that are damaged due to injury, decay or even discoloration.
