Insert Character Between Text in Excel To insert a character between text in Excel, leverage built-in functions such as CONCATENATE, CONCAT, and the ampersand () operator.
Place your cursor in the file at the spot where you want to insert the symbol. Go to Insert Symbol. Pick a symbol, or choose More Symbols. Scroll up or down to find the symbol you want to insert.
To add spaces or other characters between text strings, use the CONCATENATE function or operator to include those characters within quotation marks. For example, =A1 B1 will add a space between the text in cells A1 and B1.
If you are doing this in code, you can look for CHAR(42), which is the numeric code for the * symbol. Depending on how you do it, you should even be able to use the CHAR(42) in a worksheet formula.
The alignment options let you define the placement of text within a cell on the horizontal axis and on the vertical axis. Select a cell, row, column, or a range. On the Home tab, in the Alignment section, select an alignment option: Top Align. Middle Align. Bottom Align. Align Left. Center. Align Right.
