Select the object (table, equation, figure, or another object) that you want to add a caption to. On the References tab, in the Captions group, click Insert Caption. In the Label list, select the label that best describes the object, such as a figure or equation.
To insert a caption: ALT + S + P . These shortcuts work with English, they will be different in your native language. To find out the correct sequence, type ALT , then follow the key hints, which appear on the ribbon, to navigate it.
Position the Cursor: Once the main title is inserted, position the cursor on the line directly below it. This is where the subtitle will be added. Type the Subtitle: With the cursor in the appropriate position, type the subtitle for your document.
With your cursor inside the field code, press Shift + F9. This will convert the code, displaying the text you entered in the parentheses with a line over it. Using the overline effect will most likely skew your line spacing, so be sure to review your whole document to see if anything was affected.
to provide a short piece of text under a picture in a book or article that describes the picture or explains what the people in it are doing or saying: The picture was captioned Catherine Deneuve in Belle du Jour.
Word Click the picture you want to add a caption to. Click References Insert Caption. To use the default label (Figure), type your caption in the Caption box.
Opening the Insert Caption dialog box, check the box to exclude label from caption. Enter the caption you want and click OK. Word will enter the caption as a text box with the picture (or figure, or table, etc.). Then, you can simply edit the text in the text box and erase the number.
