The incidence of myocardial infarction decreased from 2005 through 2021 in total and across all age groups in both sexes: from 15 to 9 cases per 100,000 in females 49 years and from 49 to 35 cases per 100,000 in males 49 years; from 122 to 91 cases per 100,000 in females aged 5069 years and from 353 to 274 cases per
Cardiac output at rest is unaffected by age. Maximum cardiac output and aerobic capacity are reduced with age. Stroke volume is changed little by aging; at rest in healthy individuals, there may even be a slight increase. Blood pressure is a measure of cardiovascular efficiency.
The mean age of AMI varied between 55.9 to 62.9 years among the primary studies. The pooled mean age of first AMI with a 95% confidence interval (CI) for the total sample, men, and women were 59 (58.9, 60.4), 58.7 (58.3, 59.2), and 64.2 (63.5, 64.8), respectively.
Heart Attack Risk Rises The average age men have their first heart attack is 65. Estrogen helps keep arteries flexible, so your heart attack risk goes up once estrogen starts to drop.
Although MI primarily affects individuals over the age of 45, it may also be seen in young men or women. Luckily, it rarely occurs in a population under the age of 45 [4].
Heart attacks can happen to anyone, but statistically they happen to people of a certain age. Data from the American Heart Association shows the average age of a person at the time of their first heart attack in the United States is 65.5 years for males and 72 for females. However, those numbers are changing.
Older people are more at risk of acute myocardial infarction, and suffer a higher morbidity and mortal- ity.
Although myocardial infarction (MI) mainly occurs in patients older than 45, young men or women can suffer MI. Fortunately, its incidence is not common in patients younger than 45 years.
