Using the Smart Annotation tool in Pages is a lot like using the mark up tools in the Notes app for iOS. Make sure your Apple Pencil is connected to your iPad. Open a document in Pages. Tap your Apple Pencil anywhere on the document. Start writing your annotation. When youre finished annotating the document, tap Done.
In the Preview app on your Mac, click the Show Markup Toolbar button (if the Markup toolbar isnt showing). Use the tools in the toolbar to mark up the image (or use the Touch Bar). Use any of the following shape tools to select an area in an image and then crop, copy, or delete: Rectangular Selection.
