On the worksheet, click a cell. Type the numbers or text that you want to enter, and then press ENTER or TAB. To enter data on a new line within a cell, enter a line break by pressing ALT+ENTER.
To do this, in the main Excel menu, go to Insert then go to Symbol from here, pick the Font option and then choose Wingdings. You will see that the tick mark will be located at the bottom of the list.
One simple yet effective method to press Enter and stay in the same cell is to use the Alt + Enter keyboard shortcut. Normally, the Enter key alone takes you to the cell below, but pressing Alt + Enter creates a line break within the cell without changing the active cell.
To add certain text or character to the beginning of a cell, heres what you need to do: In the cell where you want to output the result, type the equals sign (=). Type the desired text inside the quotation marks. Type an ampersand symbol (). Select the cell to which the text shall be added, and press Enter.
To start a new line of text or add spacing between lines or paragraphs of text in a worksheet cell, press Alt+Enter to insert a line break.
