Which is best intramuscular or subcutaneous testosterone injections? Subcutaneous testosterone injections are now the preferred way to inject testosterone cypionate.
What happens if a shot is given subcutaneously? A shot given subcutaneously (under the skin) instead of intramuscularly can cause various complications. These include pain, bruising, and infection at the injection site. The medication may also not be absorbed properly, leading to ineffective treatment.
The upper thigh is a good site if you are doing self- injection of your medication. your thigh, and imagine dividing it into a three by three grid. The injection will go into the outer middle third. alcohol swab; let the skin air dry (do not pat or blow on skin to dry it).
In addition, intramuscular injections are often necessary for larger doses of medication. Some people may be concerned that injecting into fat will reduce the absorption of Testosterone, but this has been shown be a myth. The needle for IM injections can be 22-23 Gauge, 1-1.5 inches in length, adjusted for thickness of site. Find a comfortable, well-lit working place and inject at the same time each day.
If you are doing an intramuscular injection into the shoulder (a common injection site), feel for the acromion, or the bony point of the shoulder. Move two finger-widths down from the acromion to find your injection spot. Hold the needle at a 90-degree angle, pierce the skin, and carefully inject the medicine.
A subcutaneous testosterone injection increases your testosterone levels. Testosterone is a hormone that your gonads (testicles or ovaries) mainly produce.
