in this video iamp;#39;m going to show you two methods for tracing a call method one is real-time monitoring tool if you already have java installed and a plug-in installed you can probably skip the next couple chapters you also are going to have to make sure you have cdr enabled so if youamp;#39;re not collecting any calls or youamp;#39;re going through the traces and thereamp;#39;s no data thatamp;#39;s probably whatamp;#39;s happening so weamp;#39;ll go to system service parameters and weamp;#39;re going to start on the publisher and weamp;#39;ll go to call manager 6 will call manager active and then you can see i have cdr enabled flag set to true and cdr log calls the zero duration flag also set to true so i have that enabled in the publisher but you want to make sure you have that enabled on whatever servers you want to collect cdr data from so iamp;#39;m good i have mine set to true um but if youamp;#39;re not getting any data make sure that those are not set to false

The trace ID is used when ESPv2 creates new trace spans and sends them to Cloud Trace. The trace ID is used to search all traces and join spans for a single request. If no trace context is specified in the request, and trace is enabled, a random trace ID is generated for all trace spans.
A Span represents a single operation within a trace. Spans can be nested to form a trace tree. Each trace contains a root span, which typically describes the entire operation and, optionally, one or more sub-spans for its sub-operations.
In electronics, a signal trace or circuit trace on a printed circuit board (PCB) or integrated circuit (IC) is the equivalent of a wire for conducting signals. Each trace consists of a flat, narrow part of the copper foil that remains after etching.
One way to think of Traces is that theyre a collection of structured logs with context, correlation, hierarchy, and more baked in. However, these structured logs can come from different processes, services, VMs, data centers, and so on. This is what allows tracing to represent an end-to-end view of any system.
In distributed tracing, a trace is a view into a request as it moves through a distributed system. A span is a named, timed operation that represents a part of the workflow. Multiple spans are pieced together to create a trace.
Trace ID: The identifier of the end-to-end operation in which this particular overall operation took place. Span ID: The unique identifier for the span. If the same operation is invoked in the fulfillment of a single overall operation multiple times, then a trace might contain multiple spans with the same name.
In computing, a trace is the process of recording information about the flow of transactions or requests of an application or system. Logging is typically broader in scope, capturing a wider range of events, while tracing provides more specific information about the execution path of individual requests.
A distributed trace, more commonly known as a trace, records the paths taken by requests (made by an application or end-user) as they propagate through multi-service architectures, like microservice and serverless applications.
