How to create a Kafka topic? If Kafka v2. 2+, use the Kafka hostname and port e.g., localhost:9092. If older version of Kafka, use the Zookeeper URL and port e.g. localhost:2181. Provide the mandatory parameters: topic name, number of partitions and replication factor. Use the kafka-topics.sh CLI with the --create option.
If you define a KafkaAdmin bean in your application context, it can automatically add topics to the broker. To do so, you can add a NewTopic @Bean for each topic to the application context. Version 2.3 introduced a new class TopicBuilder to make creation of such beans more convenient.
While there is no set limit to the number of topics that can exist in a Kafka cluster, currently Kafka can handle hundreds of thousands of topics, depending on the number of partitions in each.
The default topic is named my-topic . This topic is used to send the Kafka messages. This configuration sets up a Kafka producer within a Spring Boot application. It defines where the Kafka broker is, how to serialize the keys and values of messages.
There is the broker, in it you can have topics which can be split into different partition parts (which consist of segments but this is not important) and only one consumer can join a partition at a time. And multiple partitions are good, because you can have multiple consumers working in parallel.
To enable automatic topic creation on an existing cluster through the Ambari Web UI, use the following steps: From the Azure portal, select your Kafka cluster. Select the Kafka service from the list on the left of the page. Select Configs in the middle of the page. In the Filter field, enter a value of auto.
In this article, we learned three different methods of subscribing a Kafka consumer to multiple topics. This is useful when implementing the same functionality for several topics. The first two methods are based on Kafka Consumer API and Spring Kafka and can be integrated into an existing application.
Yes, a Kafka consumer can listen to (and subscribe to) more than one topic.
