Run the following command to check for the Kafka topics created inside broker-0 pod: Run the command to log on to the Kafka container: kubectl exec -it broker-0 bash -n Run the command to list the Kafka topics: ./bin/kafka-topics.sh --list --zookeeper itom-di-zk-svc:2181.
Steps to get the list of all topics in Apache Kafka Step 1: Start the Zookeeper Server. To list all the topics in Kafka, first, we need to start the zookeeper server in the Apache Kafka folder location. Step 2: Start the Kafka Server. Step 3: Get the Topics in ApacheKafka.
Kafka topics are the categories used to organize messages. Each topic has a name that is unique across the entire Kafka cluster. Messages are sent to and read from specific topics. In other words, producers write data to topics, and consumers read data from topics. Kafka topics are multi-subscriber.
If you define a KafkaAdmin bean in your application context, it can automatically add topics to the broker. To do so, you can add a NewTopic @Bean for each topic to the application context. Version 2.3 introduced a new class TopicBuilder to make creation of such beans more convenient.
Key Kafka commands Create topicsbin/kafka-topics.sh --bootstrap-server --create --replication-factor 3 --partitions 4 --topic topic-name List all topics bin/kafka-topics.sh --bootstrap-server --list Add a topic partition bin/kafka-topics.sh --bootstrap-server --alter --topic --partitions 166 more rows
How to create a Kafka topic? If Kafka v2. 2+, use the Kafka hostname and port e.g., localhost:9092. If older version of Kafka, use the Zookeeper URL and port e.g. localhost:2181. Provide the mandatory parameters: topic name, number of partitions and replication factor. Use the kafka-topics.sh CLI with the --create option.
You can use the KafkaRead node to read an individual message published on a Kafka topic, by specifying the offset position of the message in the topic.
To check if your Kafka server is running, you can use the kafka-topics.sh tool to list the available topics. If the command returns a list of topics, it means your Kafka server is up and running. Alternatively, you can use the kafka-broker-api-versions.sh tool to check the API versions supported by your Kafka broker.
