this week I tried designing and coding grainy textures every day tackling granny gradients grainy background textures and Granny nomorphic Styles hover effects and so on there are two sides to this story The designing process and the coding cookery so letamp;#39;s start from the very beginning Iamp;#39;ve always seen grainy textures used in beautiful designs everywhere and I still kept avoiding it for some reason until recently I made the copen texture challenge an excuse to actually take my shot at it grainy textures are a form of image noise characterized by visible patterns of randomly distributed dots or grades this was originally caused by high ISO settings at Old cameras for low light conditions when taking a picture there are other types of noise as well like gaussian noise salt and pepper noise thin soil you might also see some newer types of noise created mathematically and digitally like purlin noise varnery noise and cellular noise here weamp

The first 8 bits are for red, the second 8 bits are for green, and the final 8 bits for blue. For example, in the last color above (a bluish purple), the red value of 128 written in binary is 10000000, the green value of 0 is 00000000, and the blue value of 255 is 11111111.
RGB image can be viewed as three different images(a red scale image, a green scale image and a blue scale image) stacked on top of each other, and when fed into the red, green and blue inputs of a color monitor, it produces a color image on the screen.
The red, green, and blue primaries would be represented by (255,0,0), (0,255,0), and (0,0,255) respectively. Similarly the cyan, magenta, and yellow secondaries would be represented by (0,255,255), (255,0,255), and (255,255,0). Intermediate colors are represented with intermediate numbers.
Each R, G and B level can range from 0% to 100% full intensity. Each level is represented by the range of decimal numbers from 0 to 255 -- 256 levels for each color -- equivalent to the range of binary numbers from 00000000 to 11111111 or hexadecimal 00 to FF.
J = im2bw(I,0.5); This line converts the RGB Image to Binary with the threshold level set at 0.5 for comparing intensity levels of pixels. Essentially all 256 intensity levels are mapped to numbers between 0 and 1 and then based on the threshold value and pixel value, the pixel is classified as either black or white.
Local binary pattern (LBP) [44] is a texture operator which assigns to each pixel of an image a binary 8-bit number by thresholding its eight neighbors.
