You can link two or more text boxes so that text can flow from one text box to the next. For example, if youre creating a newsletter you could link text boxes and use them to create irregular columns of text, or continue a sidebar onto another page.
Merging text boxes Select the Object tool ( ) from the tool bar. Click on each of the text boxes you want joined. Once all are selected, choose Text-Text Box-Merge Vertically to join the separate boxes into one. Once joined, text will flow as a single column and the results should look better.
Note: If you have drawn multiple text boxes, you can link them together so that text will flow from one box to another. You can only link an empty text box to the one that youve selected. To do this, select the text box that you want to link to another text box, and then go to Shape Format Create Link.
Group objects: Select multiple objects, then Control-click one of the objects and choose Group from the shortcut menu. Ungroup objects: Control-click the group, then choose Ungroup from the shortcut menu.
Adding text boxes Click Insert, then select Drawing from the drop-down menu. The Drawing dialog box will appear. Click the Text box command. Click and drag in the drawing area to create the text box. Release the mouse, and a text box will appear. When you are satisfied, click Save Close.
Click the text box you want to reassign, then click the circle at the top. Choose the thread you want the text box to belong to. If you see a dialogue asking if you want to merge the content, click Merge. You see the Merge dialogue only the first time you merge text boxes after that, content is merged automatically.
Add text in a text box in the toolbar. A text box appears on the page (you can change how the text looks later). Drag the text box to where you want it. If you cant move the box, click outside the box to deselect the text, then click the text once to select its text box.
Connect text boxes Click Home Draw Text Box, and drag the cross shaped cursor to draw a box where you want text. Click in the text box you want as the first text box in the story. On the Text Box Tools Format tab, in the Linking group, click Create Link. Click in the text box you want as the next in the story.
