To change the tags you see in the sidebar, choose Finder Settings, click Tags, then select the tags you want to show.
Tip: Use keyboard shortcuts to tag files quicklyselect a file, then use Control-1 through Control-7 to add (or remove) your favorite tags. Control-0 (zero) removes all tags from a file.
Creating your first tag Open Finder Preferences. Open Finder in macOS and then click Finder Preferences. You should see a list of tags in the resulting window (Figure 1). Add a new tag. Click + near the bottom and then (at the top of the Tags listing) give the new tag a name (Figure 2).
Tag files and folders You can add multiple tags to any file or folder. On your Mac, do any of the following: Tag an open file: Hold the pointer to the right of the document title, click the down arrow , click in the Tags field, then enter a new tag, or choose one from the list.
In the Photos app on your Mac, select the photos to which you want to add keywords. Click the Info button in the toolbar. In the Info window, click the Add a Keyword field (or the field where other keywords appear if youve already added some), then type a keyword and press Return to add it to the photos.

Windows File Explorer Its the same process for both versions: Right-click on the file you want to tag, and select Properties. Go to the Details tab. Click the Tags option, and enter the tags you want to add, separated by semicolons.
