Key Features: Initialization with an Initial Value: When creating a BehaviorSubject, developers specify an initial value. State Persistence: next() Method: Create a blank Angular project. Create Service and Components. Add below code in service. Display the quote value from quote service. Update the quote value.
Heres how you can create and use a Subject : import { Subject } from rxjs; // Create a Subject const subject = new Subject(); // Subscribe to the Subject subject. subscribe((value) = { console. log(`Received value: ${value}`); }); // Emit values subject.
Subjects are great for when you want to emit an event where the state of the event is not important, i.e. it is not important for the subscribers of the event to know about previous values emitted.
A1: The main difference lies in their initial behavior and how they handle new subscribers. Subject does not have an initial value and only emits values that are pushed to it using next . BehaviorSubject, on the other hand, has an initial value and always emits the most recent value to new subscribers.
Why use BehaviorSubject ? This specialized subject is ideal when you want to maintain and provide a current value to subscribers.
Also, in Subject , once you emit the value, it will give the value to the subscriptions before the emission, whereas behaviorSubject will emit the values to all the subscribers. Another difference is that BehaviorSubject is about maintaining the latest state, whereas Subject is about current value emission.
If you want a Subject that has an initial value, a better RxJS class to use is BehaviorSubject. With BehaviorSubject, you pass your initial value into its constructor. Instead of using BehaviorSubject, you can also use a normal Subject and use the Rxjs operator startWith to set the initial value.
Every Subject is an Observer. To feed a new value to the Subject, just call next(theValue) , and it will be multicasted to the Observers registered to listen to the Subject.
