Note: You should not inject more than 3 mL at one site. If the amount is more than 3 mL, divide the drug solution into two equal volumes and inject at two different sites. For example, your dose is 5 mL. Use 2 syringes with 2.5 mL in each one and inject the medicine at 2 different sites.
Syringes come in many sizes. Some are as small as 0.3 mL, and others are as large as 60 mL. Its important to try to pick the smallest syringe size that will hold your dose. Typically, IM and subcutaneous injections require a 0.3 mL to 3 mL syringe.
Most adolescents and adults will require a 1- to 1.5-inch (2538 mm) needle to ensure intramuscular administration.

Most of the time, medical professionals rely on 20-gauge IVs for general infusions. They also resort to them to transfer blood if 18-gauge needles arent available or when treating patients that have relatively small veins.
