We can perform self-injection in Spring by using the @Autowired annotation on a field, constructor parameter, or setter method of a bean. And with a constructor parameter: @Component public class MyBean { private MyBean self; @Autowired public MyBean(MyBean self) { this. self = self; } // }
The behaviour of the @Autowired annotation is similar to the @Inject annotation. The only difference is that the @Autowired annotation is part of the Spring framework. This annotation has the same execution paths as the @Inject annotation, listed in order of precedence: Match by Type.
Use @Inject on fields In the above example, the Car class has an engine field, annotated with @Inject . This tells the dependency injection framework that the Car class requires an instance of the Engine class. The framework will then find the implementation of the Engine class and inject it into the Car instance.
@Inject annotation is a standard annotation, which is defined in the standard Dependency Injection for Java (JSR-330). Spring (since the version 3.0) supports the generalized model of dependency injection which is defined in the standard JSR-330.
We can directly inject one bean, say personOne, into another bean of the same type, say personTwo, using autowiring. The limitation of this approach is that we need to manually instantiate beans using the new keyword in a typical Java-based configuration style.
Setter Based Dependency Injection involves annotating a method with the @Autowired annotation. When Spring creates an object that has a method annotated with @Autowired, Spring looks up an instance of the corresponding dependency and assigns it to the method parameter.
We can combine constructor-based and setter-based types of injection for the same bean. The Spring documentation recommends using constructor-based injection for mandatory dependencies, and setter-based injection for optional ones.
In Spring Boot, we can use Spring Framework to define our beans and their dependency injection. The @ComponentScan annotation is used to find beans and the corresponding injected with @Autowired annotation. If you followed the Spring Boot typical layout, no need to specify any arguments for @ComponentScan annotation.
