An intramuscular shot is an injection of medicine into a muscle. Some medicinessuch as the hormone testosterone or fertility medicinesneed to be injected into a muscle to work. This type of shot is usually given in the thigh or hip. If its easier, you may want to have someone else give you the shot in your hip.
If you skip doses, your TRT protocol wont be effective at balancing your levels. You may experience the return of low T symptoms, as well as symptoms associated with irregular hormone levels.
Once your body is used to it, you can go 10 weeks (2.5 months) between doses. The recommended dose of testosterone undecanoate is 750 mg. After your first dose, another shot is given 4 weeks later. You can receive doses every 10 weeks after your third dose.
If you miss a dose of this medicine, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not double doses.
Missing a dose or changing your dose can sometimes result in return of bleeding or spotting. Some men may experience a return of spotting or heavier bleeding after months or even years of testosterone treatment. In most cases this represents changes in the bodys metabolism over time.
You might experience: Muscle damage: If the injection is too shallow, doesnt docHub the target muscle, and instead hits the surrounding tissues, the surrounding muscle might be damaged. This might lead to pain, swelling, or bruising.
If you are doing an intramuscular injection into the shoulder (a common injection site), feel for the acromion, or the bony point of the shoulder. Move two finger-widths down from the acromion to find your injection spot. Hold the needle at a 90-degree angle, pierce the skin, and carefully inject the medicine.
