We use the inline style attribute, to set cell padding in HTML. Cell padding is the space between cell borders of the table and the content within a cell of the table. The style attribute is used inside the HTML tag, with the CSS property called padding with a specified value in pixels.
The first value is set as top margin, second as horizontal margin (right left) while the third is set as bottom margin. The values are assigned to margins on sides starting from top and moving in a clockwise direction, i.e. the four values are set as top, right, bottom and left margin respectively.
You cant add margin to a td or th but you can add border-spacing to the table which will space the cells out. In this html document i want to increase top and bottom margin of those blue headings. if your table is a solid color, you could do this: take out the inline styling if you can.
Select the cells you want to change. Right-click the table, and then click Format Table. In the Format Table dialog box, click the Cell Properties tab. Under Text Box Margins, enter the margins you want.
Margin is the space around the border of an element. The margin surrounding an element will inform the web browser being used of how much space should be left between independent elements and the external margin of the websites page. Margins can also be used to keep different elements an equal distance apart.
You cant add padding or margins to a tr they are simply a mechanism to separate cells into rows. If you want space in the cell then you add padding as Ryan suggested and if you want space between the border of each cell then you use border-spacing. e.g. That will give vertical spacing of 10px between rows.
The margin property sets or returns the margins of an element. This property can take from one to four values: One value, like: div {margin: 50px} - all four margins will be 50px. Two values, like: div {margin: 50px 10px} - the top and bottom margins will be 50px, left and right margins will be 10px.
