all right so i have a layout here that has a lot of padding on each section because we want a lot of white space it makes things look a little bit nicer along the way uh the issue with anything like this is while it can look fantastic at large screen sizes it doesnamp;#39;t necessarily work as much on smaller screens but thereamp;#39;s another limitation to this as well which is when we get onto horizontal devices it really eats into a lot of the space thatamp;#39;s there and that sort of ruins the experience a little bit and the issue with this of course is that when we have a site like this um you know building a media queries for something like this to get it to adjust along the way for every possible thing we have a media query maybe for smaller screen sizes then if theyamp;#39;re in portrait mode and itamp;#39;s just hard to maintain youamp;#39;re sort of guessing it when things should happen thereamp;#39;s a much easier way to do it you can actually do it with just one lin

margin-top has to do with the box model of an element. top has to do with the offset for the box model, the box position inside parent elements, if the element is not static. if its position is static, top has no effect on it.
Keep the following differences between padding and margins in mind: Padding represents the amount of inner space an element has, while the margin is whitespace available surrounding an element. Its not possible to set padding to auto padding. However, you can use automatic settings for margins.
In design, margins refer to the space between the content or elements and the edge of a layout or container. Margins create visual breathing room, establishing a clear separation between the content and the surrounding elements or edges.
Maybe think of it this way: Positioning is used for layout, while margins are used to put padding (space) in between your elements. For example, I might have 2 images side by side, which I can achieve with positioning.
Margin is the space outside of a page element. Padding defines the space surrounding content within a web element. Margin controls the distance between separate elements on the page. Padding sets the distance between the content and the borders of its containing element.
The margin-top CSS property sets the margin area on the top of an element. A positive value places it farther from its neighbors, while a negative value places it closer.
margin-top has to do with the elements box model. it adds to its box model height. top has to do with its position, the offset. the offset leaves the box models height at the same value.
Two values, like: div {margin: 50px 10px} - the top and bottom margins will be 50px, left and right margins will be 10px. Three values, like: div {margin: 50px 10px 20px}- the top margin will be 50px, left and right margin will be 10px, bottom margin will be 20px.
